How I Made An Interview With God Screensaver

If you are the least familiar with the Bible, it may have struck you that the God of the Old Testament differs from the God who talks to Jesus in the New Testament. Briefly, the Old Testament God is a rather mean fellow who demands blind obedience, while the New Testament God is more like a nice parent - loving and forgiving. These images of God seem very different indeed.

In spite of these contradictions, both God-images seem to live side by side in the Christian world. And they are used according to the need of the moment. If you feel like being tough with people, then bring up the Old Testament God; otherwise give them the New Testament version.

Personally, I have never been a real fan of the Christian God - I have felt more in tune with the spiritual concepts found in Buddhism. However, as I live in a part of the world where Christian beliefs are so strong, I can’t really ignore them completely.

So when one day I happened to come across a book called “Conversations With God”, I became very interested. This book portrays a God who is very different from the confusing and even rather negative God-image found in the Bible. This new God is a very kind and forgiving being, yes - but also so much more. She (or He) provides clear, logical, and empowering answers to all those deep questions that plague many of us.

I became so enthusiastic about this book that I turned some of the juciest tidbits into a short dialogue, which I then made into a screensaver. This is an Interview With God Screensaver, and the interview with God could take place in a dream or in a dream-like state.

The book itself, which I am so fond of, is also a type of Interview With God; since God speaks to the author by way of automatic writing. You may argue that the person who wrote the book made it all up himself, but either way it is a very deep and moving text.
