Rhode Island vacations offer you a chance to study the past with a visit to the Museum of Newport History. Here you will find a building that was actually the first permanent home to the Museum in 1854. It is still in use today as part of the larger facility. There is a collection of thousands of pieces of information waiting for you to step back in time.
You are welcome to take one of the tours of the Museum and surrounding area to learn more about how Newport was founded and the impact it had in the nation. You will see some buildings that have survived the years and are in use today. The original museum is attached to the new one with a slate roof, brick veneer and steel shutters to protect this piece of history for years to come.
