In the past people would decide where to live based on the school system in that particular town . Where you resided was where your children would attend school. That was the primary option available . This article will discuss how these days there are several educational types of schools for your children ranging from a mathematically accelerated charter school to a special golf school that gives you the option to learn on the course in addition to having an online golf school for coaching .

Depending on where you live , there are different rules on which public school your child can attend . Some states claim that you have to go to the school in your neighborhood while other districts allow open enrollment if there is availability in the classroom . This would mean that students can go to another town to school if the class for that grade is not full. The only requirement for parents wouldbe is to drive their child to and from school .

There have always been private school and parochial schools in the country but now those private schools in addition to charter schools are becoming more and more specialized. If your child is a great hockey player with potential to play at the college level or even professionally someday then they may go to Minnesota to a special boarding school geared completely at hockey players. If you speak French to your child at home and want your child to learn in that language as well then they can attend a charter school such as the International School in Denver that has a French immersion method of teaching so all of the students that attend will be completely fluent in French.

Some of these rules have caused some problems as well . The open enrollment within public schools is one example . In the state of Colorado, the open enrollment policy has produced a situation where illegal recruiting of athletes has become a problem . A girl from Castle Rock switched to a high school in another town totally to be on the best basketball team in the state and it paid off . She continued to receive a total basketball scholarship to college . This has created coaches to recruit players as young as 12 to try to open enroll in their school when the time comes to go to high school. Because of this, new laws have been created to stop recruiting teenage athletes.

Other options for education are at times not found at a school building at all. Several parents choose to home school their children for various reasons but the most popular one tends to be for religious instruction that they would not receive at a public school. Other students have found the online internet school works better for them if they have a sport or hobby that requires them to travel a lot . Instead of hiring a tutor to be on the road with them, virtual school is a good option to get their education.
